Maintain Perspective and Take Charge of Your Success
If you put bad news in its place, the world is not quite so dark.
What I am about to suggest is heresy, considering my past as a journalist who harshly judged those who chose to be ignorant of current events. But, considering the circumstances today, ignorance is bliss. Minimize your exposure.
When you hear bad news, you expect bad news. When you are told again and again that all is lost, all is lost. Enough, already! Start tuning the negativity out. Have a general idea of what is going on, but make a conscious decision to mute the volume and frequency of the pessimism because, otherwise, the dire predictions of the media analysts will swallow you up.
Even if these are the worst of times for millions of people, they are not the worst of times for all people. Those of us who are adept at finding opportunity in moments of great adversity will create success for ourselves, regardless of what the market does. Maybe we will have to change what we do or how we do it, but successful people have the confidence to know that they will figure it out.
There is a lot of talk about the tough times we are going through. Too much talk. Even if it is real, the negativity is powerful. Don’t buy into the notion that you are experiencing a moment of great scarcity, rather than wild abundance. Your ability to manifest abundance for yourself depends entirely on your ability to convince your brain that abundance is attainable.
Science has proven that all of us have great power to do that, if we just get with the program. The brain is like a computer. It works according to program. If you program it with fear, doubt and negativity, it will function in a realm of fear, doubt and negativity. But, if you program it to respond with strength, confidence and positivism, guess what? Your brain will direct you to operate in a realm of strength, confidence and positivism. Your brain believes whatever you tell it to believe.
Put the bad news in check. Know that things are tough, but don’t obsess about it. At the same time, don’t delude yourself. This is not the time to buy yourself a Hummer if you don’t have stacks of cash in the bank. But, this is the time for you to live a rich, full life. Just protect yourself from getting sucked under by the negativity. You are learning to use these tough moments to create more success, rather than fighting so hard to just maintain and sustain yourself.
The window is open. Opportunity is here. If you see only adversity, you will experience adversity. Take control over the negativity by tuning out the pessimism and going about the business of creating more success for yourself.
