The Errant Blogger

I actually like blogging. I just don’t do it. I used to, but then came all this other stuff I was supposed to do. Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, YouTube… I used to have a life. Now I have social media, which keeps me from socializing with real people.

Complete strangers know more about what I do on a given day than my neighbors, who don’t care about social media. If you are my friend on Facebook, you know more about what’s going on than my parents. It is absurd. There are people I don’t even like who know all of this information.

I have almost 3,000 friends on Facebook, and more than a few of them are people I don’t know well. My news feed is endless, so I only glance at the most recent 10 or 15 posts. I recently got an e-mail from someone who was angry at me for not responding when he responded to my posts. Am I supposed to do that? And, if I don’t, how on earth can that be a slight?

Anyhow, I have got to be better about this, so I will. The truth is, I’d RATHER be communicating via the long-form in the blog. And so I will try to beat my record of not blogging for more than eight months. I am going to try for a couple of times a month. If not a couple of times a week. I’ve got a lot to share and I’m going to do it.
